Fired Up

We are well under way - designing, sawing, filing and soldering the covers for our process accordion books. This content of the book structure will evolve throughout the year and will be finished in June.

Here are several photos of the progress we have made so far on our first metal designs. It's loud, challenging and amazingly satisfying!  Go kids go...we're just getting started! :-)

Signing Off with a Signature Stamp

The students' stamps are ready to use! Fun stuff. I can't wait for them to incorporate them into their work and the presentation of their jewelry creations!

Chop Chop!

...here we go!

For our first assignment, we are creating signature stamps. In China such stamps are called a Chop, and in Japan, they are called a Hanko. These traditional Asian seals are used to sign documents, artwork and other paperwork.

My students will:
• develop a design that functions as a unique, one-of-a-kind signature stamp
• carve it into a 1.5 inch EZKut print plate
• use it to sign their work
